DVSA Driving Test Release Dates: September 2026 Update
The DVSA has published new information explaining when driving test appointments are released and how learner drivers can find earlier driving test dates.

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has confirmed that a new week of driving test appointments is released at 6am every Monday, including bank holidays.
These appointments are released 24 weeks in advance. However, earlier driving test appointments can become available at any time during the week.

The following driving test appointment release dates have been published by DVSA:

When Are Earlier Driving Test Dates Released?
One important point highlighted by DVSA is that earlier driving test appointments are not released at 6am on Monday mornings.
Earlier appointments can become available at any time during the week. This can happen when:
- another learner cancels their driving test
- another learner changes their driving test appointment
- DVSA adds additional examiner availability
According to DVSA, there is no single best time to search for an earlier driving test appointment.

The queue for the DVSA driving test booking service is usually busiest at 6am on Monday mornings, when new appointments 24 weeks in advance are released.
If you are looking for an earlier driving test, DVSA says there is no benefit in joining the queue at 6am on Monday because earlier appointments can become available at any time during the week.
